Junk and Jupiter Projects heard what the local music community wanted – and made it all come true
Junk readers recently put up a fight about how American post-hardcore band Saosin (like so many other awesome groups) was touring locations in South East Asia without hitting Malaysia. Now, thanks to their requests (and some serious pleading), Junk and Jupiter Projects have made it possible for the California-based rock group to make it here to play live!
In the first of Junk’s By Demand series in conjunction with Jupiter Projects, Saosin will play in Kuala Lumpur for the first time ever on 1 February 2010 at KL Live (formerly Ruums). With two full-length, critically-acclaimed albums under their belts and the chops to play alongside acts like Linkin Park and Underoath, Saosin is sure to bring the house down in an amazing show.
Hailing from Newport Beach, California, Saosin haven’t had it easy, with their magnetic former frontman Anthony Green leaving them just before a tour, and his replacement, Cove Reber lambasted for the crime of not being Green. But adversity brings maturity, and Saosin are ready to show the world that the loss of a singer doesn’t mean the end of a band. Their latest record In Search of Solid Ground is intense, personal, and haunting - the hallmarks of a great post-hardcore record.
In Search of Solid Ground comes on the heels of a genre defining self-titled debut, which spawned hits like ‘Voices’ which would up #22 on the Billboard charts, and a live album, Come Close. This comes alongside 3 EPs that see the progress of Saosin over the years, from the well-loved Anthony Green product Translating The Name and Cove Reber’s debut Saosin EP. The latest of these, The Grey, showcased songs like ‘Keep Secrets’ and ‘Love Maker’, which eventually appeared on In Search of Solid Ground as ‘I Keep My Secrets Safe’ and ‘The Worst of Me’, respectively.
Tickets are now available at all Rock Corner outlets in the country. Early birds who present the January 2010 issue of Junk get to purchase tickets for a special price of RM87 each. Purchase five tickets and stand a chance to win a Gibson Les Paul Junior worth US$1,199 at the concert too! Concert-goers also stand a chance to win goodies from Macbeth. |
