Xinjiang Song and Dance Ensemble

Established in 1949, the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region (abbreviated as “Xinjiang Song and Dance Ensemble”) is an authentic performing arts company with Chinese flavors.
The Xinjiang Song and Dance Ensemble is composed of the artists from a dozen of ethnic groups, such as Uighur, Han, Kazak, Hui, Mongolia, Kirgiz, Uzbek, Xibe, Manchu and Russia. The programs this ensemble creates and performs include dances, songs and instrumental music. The performances presented by the artists of this ensemble have been granted many international awards.
The Xinjiang Song and Dance Ensemble recruits the artistic talents throughout the Uygur Autonomous Region and have cultivated many internationally renowned artists including Dili Bai’er, Paxia Yixia, A’nong Tula. Their gift for the arts is acclaimed by the general public. Our Xinjiang Is A Wonderful Place, a gala song and dance show created by the ensemble, absorbs the essential elements of the Xinjiang’s dances and songs in the last century and collects quite a few classical pieces. This gala show demonstrates not only the strong ethnic flavors, but also the aesthetic air of the new century. It not only represents the Xinjiang appearance of the times, but also interprets the glamour of Xinjiang. This show visited Beijing three times and was received by the top Chinese leadership including Jiang Zemin, former president of China. It also appeared at the celebration of the return of Hong Kong and Macao.

Rainbow of Heavenly Mountain is more successful, which was a gala show created in 2001. This show was granted three golden awards for creation, performance and stage engineering as well as other 15 grand awards at the National Ethnic Arts Demonstration in September, 2009. In 2001, at the arts festival held in Pyongyang that more than 80 countries attended, it won 8 golden awards. The performance arranged for Beijing’s bid for the Olympics in Moscow was successful and spoken highly of by participating countries.
